Program Introduction

The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Penn State University offers students various degree options, minors, and certificate programs. The primary degree program is the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, which provides students with the foundational knowledge needed for the design and development of aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and other flight systems. Additionally, the department offers concentration areas such as aerodynamics, astronautics, and aircraft design to allow students to gain specialized knowledge alongside their major. This program is designated as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program, allowing international students to benefit from up to 36 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States. Students can also complement their education through minors or certificate programs, including Engineering Leadership Development, Engineering Entrepreneurship, and Nanotechnology.
